Regina Chavez Wyler

Regina was extremely devoted to her husband, three children, and her close-knit family.  "Gina" was a very hard worker, dedicated teacher,  lactose specialist, and always creatively committed to making the world a much better place for all!  Her heart and life were full of 'song' and love of others!

Gina spent her last days surrounded by family and friends in Kaseman's Hospice unit in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her room had been blinged out in prayers, pink lights, paper flowers, handmade posters, cards, and so much more!  Her hospice facility allowed us to share this sacred time in music, laughter, and community.

Regina was never alone as she bravely faced an inoperable brain tumor at 32 years of age.  There was always someone with her day and night.  However, this was not the case with many of the other patients who did not have the same supports or presence of others. It is a difficult reality.  It is also upsetting to imagine the changes that have been made in order to adjust to the precautions of COVID-19 to all patients now.

High Fives were created specifically in honor of Gina by her children, family, and friends.  These greetings were shared with her hospice unit in her honor of Regina because she continues to live on in our hearts and actions.   These High Fives will be shared with others so that they will know that like Gina, they are never alone and they are not forgotten.

We were able to make a delivery of  special High Fives to our HOSPICE HEROES on Thanksgiving Day.  A very unique unit of extraordinary men and women who are there to help our loved ones prepare for the final stages of life.  We are so grateful for the compassion and care that they are commited to providing to others.  We thank each of you!

"Our unit is enjoying all of the cards your family made for us in honor of Regina Chavez Wyler.  We have them posted in our break room & throughout our unit.  They are so beautiful."
